Marathon Patent Group Adds Richard S. Chernicoff to Board of Directors

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 03/09/15 -- Marathon Patent Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: MARA) ("Marathon"), a patent licensing company, announced today that it has added Richard S. Chernicoff to its board of directors.

Mr. Chernicoff presently acts as a consultant focusing on mergers and acquisitions, Intellectual property and private company financings. He is currently a director and Intellectual Property Committee chairman for Unwired Planet. He was previously the President of Tessera Intellectual Property Corporation, President of Unity Semiconductor Corporation, and a Senior Vice President Business Development for SanDisk Corporation. Prior to that, he was a Partner with with Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP in their mergers and acquisitions group.

As an executive over the last 11 years, Mr. Chernicoff has been responsible for a $500 million annual revenue intellectual property business, helped rejuvenate and lead a 100 person organization achieving over $200 million in annual revenue, sourced, negotiated, closed and integrated over $1.5 billion of acquisitions, and managed over $1.3 billion of public offerings.

As a deal lawyer for over 10 years, Mr. Chernicoff successfully built long-term relationships with clients across many industries, negotiated and closed over 100 mergers, represented underwriters/issuers in over 50 high yield offerings/IPOs, initiated and defended hostile acquisitions, led cross-border teams on mergers & acquisitions and financings, and counseled on SEC/corporate governance matters.

Chernicoff received his Juris Doctor from St. John's School of Law in 1993 while also being admitted to the California State Bar the same year. He also received his CPA license from the State of California in 1990.
