Marathon Patent Group Wholly Owned Subsidiary TLI Communications GmbH Starts Enforcement of Injunction Against Pinterest Germany GmbH

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/31/16 -- Marathon Patent Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: MARA) ("Marathon" or "Company"), a patent licensing and commercialization company, announced today that on May 27, 2016, its wholly owned subsidiary TLI Communications GmbH enforced an injunction against Pinterest Germany GmbH.

The enforcement of the injunctions follows two favorable first instance patent infringement rulings issued April 21, 2016 involving the German part of European patent EP 0 814 611 B1 ("EP '611") before the Munich District Court I.

The rulings applied in the matter of TLI Communications GmbH versus:

  • Pinterest Germany GmbH, concerning the Internet service "Pinterest" offered by the Pinterest Germany GmbH, as well as the associated application software for smartphones and tablet computers.

The judgment ordered Pinterest Germany GmbH to cease and desist from offering in the Federal Republic of Germany, server resources and/or operating software for smartphones and tablet computers that practice system claim 1 or method claim 15 of EP '611 (as amended). The judgments also included a declaration of liability for damages, as well as a rendering of accounts related to the infringing products. Pinterest Germany GmbH has appealed the Munich District Court's judgments.

"We are pleased that in its infringement judgment, the Munich District Court granted TLI injunctive relief. On May 27, 2016, TLI enforced the injunction against Pinterest Germany GmbH. Marathon will continue to zealously enforce the intellectual property rights of its subsidiaries, worldwide," said Doug Croxall, Founder and CEO of Marathon Patent Group.
